the who, what, where of it...

who?

i wear many hats...i am a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend - to name a few - who just happens to be obsessed with photography.
what?
i consider my style to be photojournalistic. i am a natural light, lifestyle photographer, which basically means that i enjoy taking pictures of what i consider a playdate. i love focusing on the authentic interaction between each family and charming personalities of each child.  i also know what it's like on the other side of the camera. it's quite exhausting and sometimes a miracle getting everyone up, ready and to the photo shoot without a stain or wrinkle. that's why i feel it's so important for me to provide an environment that is as fun and stress-free as possible. i hesitate to say this because i don't like to put limits around myself...at this point my focus has been on children's and family photography but i will enjoy watching where this adventure takes me.
where?
i love shooting outdoors!!! (weather permitting, of course.)  i have a few favorite spots around DFW and am always up for suggestions.  i am also able to shoot indoors, which is great for your in-home newborn sessions.
when?
i have dabbled in photography ever since high school. i have taken a couple of classes but would consider myself predominantly self-taught. my darling husband gave me a new camera for Christmas a few years ago. a decision he may now regret since that was a major catapult into my photography craze. then about a year later, i met my muse and that was it.  i. was. hooked. my passion for capturing memories of our family continues to grow and has led me to where i am now...wanting to share this with others.
why?
i grew up watching my dad take pictures of everything. he loved photography. do you remember growing up and your parents making you take pictures? he was a.l.w.a.y.s. taking our pictures...first day of school, holidays, filled in with lots of just because. what i didn't understand then but so clearly do now is that those are moments in time, memories, that are permanently captured and endeared for generations. i lost my dad unexpectedly several years ago and ever since have held on tight to those sweet pictures that he always made us take together. i am forever grateful for the gift he shared with me...the love for photography and understanding the importance of capturing timeless memories through this journey called life.
